The Lumpkin County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a 2018 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 4.98 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to three public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Lumpkin County Board of Education offices,
56 Indian Drive, Dahlonega, GA 30533, on August 2nd, 2018 at 11:30am and 6:00pm and August 13th, 2018 at 6:30pm. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 16.819 mills, an increase of .498 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 16.321 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $49.80 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $149.40.
