Culinary Arts

Culinary Arts is an immersive program designed to introduce students to the essential principles of food preparation, encompassing key terms, concepts, and methodologies integral to the discipline. Through a blend of theoretical lessons and hands-on laboratory experiences, students gain proficiency in fundamental cooking techniques, skills, and terminology. The curriculum places strong emphasis on food preparation, kitchen and dining room safety, sanitation, equipment maintenance, and operational procedures. Additionally, the course provides insights into professionalism within the culinary industry and explores various career opportunities available in this field.

Upon successfully completing the sequenced courses in the Culinary Arts Pathway, students will earn industry-recognized credentials including the ServSafe Food Handler and ServSafe Manager certifications. Furthermore, they will accrue 4 articulation credits, which can significantly advance their culinary career path.

Students studying this pathway have the opportunity to work with Culinary Creations, our school based enterprise, preparing food for catering requests, school functions, and community centered events. Culinary Arts involves the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a wide variety of food and meals prepared by chefs and cooks. Venues serving meals and food have countless workers behind the scenes working to perfect the experience and manage the business.
