In just over a month, our seniors will be walking across the stage, accepting their high school diplomas, and continuing on their life’s journey! For many years now, our community has made the Senior Letter Project a special memory for all of our graduates, and we are asking for your help once again! To date, we have less than 300 letters. With over 200 graduates, our goal is to make sure each senior has at least 10 personal notes of congratulations and encouragement to open and read on the morning of their high school graduation day. Please help us spread the word and encourage anyone who may know these graduating seniors to write a letter or create an e-card! We’ve updated our list of seniors as of this week, so be sure to check out the most updated version (attached) when you are sharing this out. Thank you so much for helping us to continue this tradition! #TR1BE

CONGRATULATIONS to Liv Lusky, who has been named the 2023 JROTC National Champion! Army JROTC Cadet Liv Lusky represented Lumpkin County High School and the Army Junior ROTC program with honor and great pride as she returns home with a Bronze medal! The Junior ROTC postal air rifle competition is one of the largest and most anticipated shooting competitions in the United States. This year, nearly 6,400 Cadets entered for a shot at the National Championships. During this competition, Cadet Liv Lusky quickly gained and maintained dominance, earning herself the 1st place spot going into the Regional Championships in Anniston, Alabama in February. Cadet Lusky finished 1st place in the Anniston Region, as well as 1st place in the Army for JROTC (consisting of all regions in the competition), as an individual precision shooter. Liv was invited as 1 of only 5 individual precision shooters to compete for the Army in the All Services National Championship at Camp Perry, OH on 23-24 March. The All Services National Championship is a 2 day competition, followed by a finals round for the top 8 shooters. It consists of the top individuals and teams from all service branches: Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force. Once again, Liv represented Lumpkin County strong by making the top 8 finals competition, where she finished the competition 3rd in the Nation! Commanding General of U.S. Army Cadet Command, Major General Antonio Munera, presented Liv with the Bronze medal and a check for $400 from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Additionally, Liv earned the Junior Distinguished Badge, presented by Sergeant First Class George Norton of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. The badge is awarded to school-age junior three-position air rifle shooters who distinguish themselves by attaining a series of high rankings in designated major junior air rifle championships.
