Congrats Skills USA Winner, Caleb Wilson. He is the State Champion in Diesel Equipment Technology. He earned a Gold Medal and will compete for the National title this Summer in Atlanta.

Congratulations to the LCHS Mock Trial Team for becoming the 2024 Region Champions. LCHS won ALL 3 rounds by unanimous consent of the evaluation judges. Additionally, the following students won Outstanding Attorney Awards: Zoha Munshi, Destiny Nichols, and Sadie Peterson. And, Outstanding Witness awards went to Rochelle Rodriguez (2xs) and Layla Rose Mellius-Paddick. Lumpkin County is #1 in a region that includes 5 other schools from Forsyth, Fulton, and Hall Counties. Way to go Tribe!

On February 9th & 10th, the LCHS Mock Trial Team will be competing in 3 rounds of Regionals at the Lumpkin County Courthouse. Our students will be interacting with and arguing their case in front of area attorneys and leaders in our community. Little Indians Bus- The Little Indians bus allows Teaching As a Profession students the opportunity to work with children throughout the semester. These future teachers are working to build literacy skills for our littlest Indians. Once the TAP students complete the pathway, they will have 90+ hours of time working with children.

Haley Hayes represented our high school today at the state championship hosted by Georgia Tech. She competed in the 1A -3A classification and finished 7th in the 100 yard freestyle. She finished in 16th in the 100 yard backstroke. A phenomenal job by our star sophomore swimmer!

There were not enough students signed up to take it here, so ACT re-routed to a different testing center.

Mrs. Swift and Coach Estenson’s biology classes tested the effects of pectinase on apple juice production. Each group measure specific amounts of apple sauces and recorded the amount of juice produced when the enzyme was added. The environmental science class modeled how the greenhouse effect works outside by measuring the temperature inside and outside of a covered beaker containing carbon dioxide over a period of 20 minutes.
