Preparing Your Move From Dahlonega / Lumpkin County
We understand that you and your family might be leaving Lumpkin County Schools for another assignment. To help mitigate the transition for military families moving out of our district, please contact your student’s school to discuss withdrawal procedures with an administrator or the school registrar. It is important to notify your child’s school as early as possible – or at least one week in advance – to begin the school withdrawal process. Official copies of student educational records will be SENT to the receiving school at no cost.
Staff at your student’s school may request the following information:
→ The name of your child’s new school and the city, state.
→ Information on whether your child’s new school has special programs available, or uses block or traditional scheduling (high school only).
Our school staff can assist you with:
→ Ensuring proper placement in any special programs needed by your child (special education, section 504, gifted/talented, etc.)
→ Providing information for you to explain Lumpkin County High School's 4×4 block scheduling system.
→ Securing school records for your child.
When you get to your new school and discover you need further information or have questions, do not hesitate to call us back. Call the school attended or the Lumpkin County Schools main phone line at (706) 864-3611.
