This month’s Partner in Education award is being presented to Iron Mountain Park and Resort.
Our Partner in Education program here in Lumpkin County welcomes the involvement of all of our stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, parents, and community). A partnership is a mutually agreed upon arrangement where both the school and the business, individual or organization is intended to benefit our schools, our students, our faculty, staff and families.
Our school system is proud to be a REACH Scholar system in the state of Georgia. The REACH Georgia Scholarship rewards students for self-accountability, promotes parent involvement and provides motivation and support; all factors that we know are critical in student educational achievement. Upon graduation, each REACH Scholar receives $10,000 to continue their education post-secondary. Each year, we are tasked as a district in raising just over $10,000 for all REACH Scholarship fund. This year, we partnered with Iron Mountain to host our inaugural 5K Trail Run. Not only did Craig and Kalie allow us use of their facilities and trails, but they personally worked with Mrs. Kerri Whitmire to pull off this event. Without their partnership, support, and their physical labor, our 5K would not have been successful. Thanks to Iron Mountain and our sponsors, we raised $12,588 this year, surpassing our goal of $10,500!
Thank you, Iron Mountain, for your dedication to the Lumpkin County School District. We appreciate your partnership, and we look forward to working with you for many years to come!
