This month’s Partner in Education award was presented to Walmart Dahlonega represented at Monday's BOE meeting by Beri Orlando, Lauranda Law, and Debbi Bogue.
Walmart Dahlonega has been a part of our community and a strong partner for Lumpkin County Schools for over 20 years now. When our Board of Education and district decided to use some of our federal funds from CARES to provide all the needed school supplies for our students, we knew that such a decision would impact our local Walmart and their beginning-of-school-year sales. When we visited Walmart this summer to meet with their management team to make them aware of this decision so they could plan accordingly, they wanted to be a part of providing some of these supplies for our students and classrooms. Over the past few months, we’ve received several phone calls from these ladies with pallets of supplies they’ve donated to our schools. What could have been an opportunity for a local business to see the negative impact a decision would have on their expected revenue was met instead with the giving heart and nature of our local Walmart and these three ladies.
Thank you, Walmart Dahlonega, for your dedication to the Lumpkin County School District. We appreciate your partnership, and we look forward to working with you for many years to come.
